Description

Attached is our Student Philanthropy emails for our student philanthropy day. Also attched is our march madness bracket.

WOOF! Day: Wingate University's WOOF! Day was an engaging and dynamic student philanthropy day, breaking away from our main day of giving to focus solely on our students. The goal was to teach students the value of giving back and to instill a sense of philanthropy within our campus culture. This was the day before our main giving day, One Day, One Dog.

Activities and Engagement:

Student Fair & T-shirt Giveaway:
We organized a street fair where student organizations created booths and competed to raise the most donations, with the winning group receiving extra funding. Students who donated received exclusive T-shirts (with tie-dye options) and seniors who gave $20.24 earned a special philanthropy cord.

Athletic Involvement & Fun Challenges:
Athletes participated through a dunk tank and a "pie-in-the-face" activity featuring their coaches, bringing in a large turnout of student-athletes and adding a playful, spirited atmosphere.

"Where’s the Woof?" Scavenger Hunt:
This scavenger hunt involved Bulldogs hidden across campus, each representing a $500 donation to a program or department of the student’s choice, creating excitement around giving.

Senior Challenge:
Our Senior Challenge, backed by a $15,000 donor contribution, encouraged seniors to hit participation goals. Departments with 20% or more senior participation entered into a drawing for extra funding, with the chance for all schools to earn bonus funds if they hit their participation goal.

"March Madness" Bracket Challenge with the President:
Students voted on a fun challenge for our President a month in advance. They decided on a food truck, which was provided during WOOF! Day, adding an element of anticipation and reward.

Woof! Wagon:
Our Woof! Wagon, a decorated golf cart, cruised around campus all day, quizzing students on Wingate trivia and handing out prizes for correct answers. The atmosphere was enhanced by music, karaoke, and the opportunity to shuttle students to and from classes.

Results: WOOF! Day was an overwhelming success, engaging 326 student donors. It fostered a spirit of giving and significantly increased awareness about the importance of philanthropy among the student body. Not only did it serve as an educational experience, but it also provided a sense of community and campus pride, which will resonate with these students as they transition into alumni.
