Our retiring Head of School asked us to fundraise for the school in his honor from the audience he had gotten to know during his 19 years of leadership (this included current and former parents, alumni, and current and former faculty and staff). We planned a "Giving Week" leading up to his retirement celebration in the spring. He was well known for playing guitar during campus events, so we used visual elements that reflected his love of guitar. We also included a preprinted note to allow donors to send a message back to him with their gift. Since we are a Quaker school and his retirement celebration event was a circular outdoor Meeting for Worship, we developed the "Join the Circle" theme that invited donors to first "join the circle" of donors virtually with a gift before attending the retirement ceremony during which they stood in an actual circular arrangement in celebration of his tenure at the school.
