The Ryan Dokich Memorial Scholarship

We launched the Cougar Crowdfunding program in 2021 at CSUSM for student organized groups, staff, and faculty to have an on campus platform for fundraising, that would bring groups of donors together to fund CSUSM specific projects during a 30 day campaign. Over a year into our launch, we had our first ever Alumni led project for a memorial scholarship in honor of an Ryan Dokich, College of Business Alumni, who sadly passed away. The project lead and faculty ambassador, came to the conclusion that they wanted to raise $5,000 in 30 days which would go towards their ultimate goal of raising $25,000 to establish an endowment scholarship in Ryan’s honor. In 30 days, the project raised over $6,500 and is well on their way of making it endowed.

During his academic tenure, Ryan touched so many lives and fostered an uplifting, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students to connect. His passion for learning was well recognized by students, faculty, and staff. His curious nature, great sense of humor, and authenticity to connect are the qualities which embody his character. Ryan loved CSUSM and CoBA wholeheartedly and has left a legacy at the CSUSM CoBA community with his positivity, contagious smile, and curious nature.
