Overview
The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA)*, the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for UW-Madison, is recruiting for a Assistant Director, Annual Giving Data Specialist. The Assistant Director, Annual Giving Data Specialist is a subject matter expert for annual giving campaigns and the nuances that are associated with the preparation, reporting and analysis of our efforts.This role is critical to the success of our campaigns and is responsible for the audience segmentation and quality control of our efforts that make them possible. This role will produce reporting to communicate performance of various fundraising channels, deliver results on unit-specific efforts, and investigate questions to guide data-informed decision making.They will also serve as a consultant to our program team and campus partners on how to access data for list creation and reporting purposes. They will understand the data and how it interacts with our various marketing ecosystems. This position is a hybrid role and will require you to work in the office at least two days weekly.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with Marketing team to identify and prepare audience segments.
  • Serve as data consultant throughout creative process to accurately and creatively leverage available data.
  • Create and maintain supporting documentation necessary to execute conditional marketing efforts.
  • Ensure data quality before efforts go into the market.
  • Prepare and provide ad hoc communication lists to support stewardship and supplemental efforts.
  • Data Translation
  • Serve as data translator; identify how the needs of the program team can be met between Salesforce reports and our Business Intelligence team.
  • Become a subject matter expert on the nuances of annual giving data, workflows, reporting, and processes, including Salesforce CRM (4WARD).
  • Serve as the team’s subject matter expert for Salesforce reports; attend ongoing training meetings and learn how to enhance standard annual giving reporting.
  • Analyze data, measure success of efforts.
  • Program Support and Administration
  • Serve as Zendesk agent for annual giving tickets.
  • Identify opportunities for programmatic growth and efficiency.
  • Gain expertise in best practices and emerging technologies across the discipline.
  • Perform routine data maintenance to reflect CRM and organizational changes.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional work experience.
  • Fundamental analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and data interpretation and manipulation.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to use data to inform decisions.
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to break down complex concepts into teachable solutions.
  • Effective communicator, high degree of written and/or oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service.

Other Qualifications:

  • Curiosity to find creative solutions.
  • Growth mindset.
  • Experience in fundraising, direct response marketing, or donor relations.
  • Curiosity to learn how our data can interact with future technologies and interest in learning new systems.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM.
  • Experience with analytics or reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
