The Appointment Setter, Individual Giving is responsible for conducting outreach to high-level alumni, parents, and friends of the university in order to secure visits for gift officers on the Individual Giving team.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • In partnership with gift officers, conduct outreach via telephone and email to an assigned list of high-level prospects and established donors across the country. Utilize best practices for communication strategy and cadence of contacts, work to secure in-person visits and/or Zoom calls between prospects and gift officers on the Individual Giving team.
  • Play an instrumental role in identifying prospects’ inclination to accept visits, gathering any pertinent information shared by the donor during the outreach process, and sharing that information with the assigned gift officer.
  • Exercise professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity to communicate directly with individuals who are the highest-level alumni, parents, and friends of the university.
  • Collaborate with a minimum of five gift officers on their trips. Meet with each gift officer regularly to discuss schedule preferences, upcoming trips, and new donor lists.
  • Conduct prospect research using University Advancement’s CRM to determine a prospect’s prior giving history, degree, current employment history, etc. to personalize all outreach efforts. Send database updates when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience within a university or high-level service industry such as sales or marketing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work effectively and collaboratively with a wide variety of people both internally and externally.
  • Ability to pleasantly overcome objections and be effectively persuasive with prospects.
  • Strong organizational skills; able to adapt to unexpected changes in work priorities.
  • Strategic thinker, able to craft specific action plans, set priorities, allocate time and resources, and achieve short- and long-term objectives.
  • Ability to analyze prospect information and provide concise documentation.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment.
  • Mature individual with knowledge of university and personnel.
  • Self-motivated.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
