Development Officer for Leadership Annual Giving

The Development Officer for Leadership Annual Giving will work to secure leadership annual gifts ($1,000 to $24,999) from university constituents to include alumni, parents and friends of the university. UNCW’s Office of Annual Giving is an industry leader known for its innovative strategies andcollaborative spirit. This role will function as a vital member of the Annual Giving team and development professionals within the Division for University Advancement and will assist in the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of assigned leadership annual giving prospects and growing the university’s donor pipeline. This work will be facilitated through a multi-channel approach including phone calls, email, video, digital solicitations and personal visits. It is anticipated that this role will manage a portfolio of approximately 500 prospects.

The successful candidate will be expected to meet specific goals within the context of a university advancement; devise strategies for the engagement and comprehensive solicitation of prospects; and work with colleagues to maximize fundraising productivity.
 
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of professional fundraising experience and/or experience in sales, marketing, communications, or higher education development.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Professional experience with donor management or customer relations.
  • Understanding and knowledge of the principles, practices, and ethics of fundraising, as well as the development process and donor cycle.
  • Customer Relationship/Database Management systems experience (preferably Raisers Edge)
  • Superior verbal and written communication, interpersonal, relationship-building, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to organize workload and collaborate with colleagues to prioritize competing demands effectively.
  • Knowledge of UNCW’s organizational structure, culture, policies, and procedures, as well as familiarity with its mission and strategic goals.
