Position Summary

UIC’s mission drives all we do. In support of the university’s mission to provide the broadest access to the highest levels of educational, research, and clinical excellence, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement (OVCA) builds and strengthens relationships with UIC’s constituencies and drives them toward advocacy for and investment in the university’s priorities.

OVCA seeks an ambitious, strategic, collaborative leader as the next Director of Prospect Management and Data Analytics. The Director of Prospect Management and Data Analytics plays a critical role in achieving UIC’s philanthropic and engagement goals by designing and implementing overall portfolio management strategy, guidelines, process, procedures, and training based on data and best practices to help build and support a sustainable donor pipeline.

This role will report to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement Operations, Talent and Culture and work closely with executive and senior leadership across the organization including the Vice Chancellor for Advancement (VC), Associate/Assistant Vice Chancellors for Advancement (AVCs), and senior/executive directors of development. The position leads a team that provides strategic assistance by ensuring portfolio health and providing strategic data insights to help solve business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required.
  • Five years of relevant experience required, preferably in a complex fundraising environment.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of fundraising prospect management principles and methods.
  • Experience working with various technologies, including knowledge and experience with project management software, data analysis tools, and CRM systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education fundraising setting.
  • Experience with grateful patient fundraising.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, and navigate a complex work environment.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Personal initiative and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Strong training skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and exercise critical thinking skills to determine best use of resources for reaching goals to support the university’s mission.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse constituents.
  • Strong advocacy skills to represent team interests and foster mutually beneficial partnerships.
