Assistant Director of Annual Giving

Washington, DCThe Assistant Director of Annual Giving supports the overall annual giving program and is a key member of the Advancement Team. The Assistant Director will support the planning, development, and execution of fundraising efforts to increase annual giving among the school’s constituencies, a priority of the school’s ambitious multi-million-dollar comprehensive capital campaign. This position will serve as the primary liaison for the Annual Giving Volunteer program. In addition, this position will play a key role in event planning and execution for events to support the Annual Giving program.
The ideal candidate is a team player, willing to pitch in to serve the overall needs of the department as necessary. They will be creative, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and thrive in a sophisticated program, as well as a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports and collaborates with the Director of Annual Giving and Director of Advancement Services to assist in developing and executing a comprehensive, year-round annual giving fundraising plan. This effort includes multichannel fundraising to support the dollar and participation goals and programming for the long-term growth of The Sidwell Friends Fund.
- Recruits, trains, and supports volunteers who help advance The Sidwell Friends Fund, including parent, alumni, and grandparent volunteers who serve on The Sidwell Friends Fund Leadership Committee, Giving Day Volunteers, Reunion Giving Volunteers, and others.
- Assists with the planning and execution of a multichannel campaign/appeal schedule that utilizes a variety of media (e.g. email, direct mail, social media, website, in-person solicitations) to communicate with current and potential donors.
- Collaborate with the School’s Communications department and Stewardship colleagues’ efforts to produce annual appeal collateral and solicitation letters by assisting with writing and editing of designed components that demonstrate the impact of charitable support.
- Develop, plan and execute two (2) key fundraising events. The position will collaborate with staff and volunteer stakeholders for maximum success.
- Maintain an active portfolio of Annual Fund prospects.
- Partner with colleagues across Advancement including Alumni Engagement and Stewardship to assist with other projects as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 2-4 years development or marketing experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiar with RE NXT or other CRM platforms, as well as web-based work management tools.
- Creative, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and donor-centered.
- Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to the mission of the school.
- Exhibits outstanding organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal direction and support.
- Willingness to work outside of standard business hours, including occasional weekends and evenings, as needed.
- Ability to appropriately handle highly confidential information.
Salary
- Salary Range $75,000-$85,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience
