University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR’s endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University’s endowment.

The Director, Leadership Annual Giving will manage a team of frontline, leadership annual giving fundraisers and support staff that collectively raises between $1.5 and $2.5M annually. As a manager, the Director will coach and train the Leadership Annual Giving team in the cultivation and solicitation of highly-rated alumni, parents, and friends with a goal to secure gifts between $2,500 and $99,999 for current use funds. In addition, this position will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a targeted portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects, conduct an average of 60 meetings and raise $500K annually. As a member of the annual giving team, the director will collaborate with direct marketing and constituent engagement to leverage opportunities, while also building relationships with school and unit frontline fundraisers to support pipeline development. Travel, both local and national, is required.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience fundraising in an academic and/or non-profit environment and/or project management

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising goals and effectively interact with donor prospects
  • Demonstrated management and teamwork skills
  • Experience in managing and leading a team toward individual and overall team goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take initiative and collaborate with others
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing applications
