Assistant Director of Annual Giving, Law School Development Initiatives

Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Development Operations and Stewardship, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving, Development Initiatives provides the foundational work behind several of the Law School’s key fundraising projects, including firm challenge, parent and family circle/council, and multi-channel mass outreach.

Additionally, this position supports the Law School’s annual Giving Day fundraising effort and one-off mini-fundraising campaigns as they arise. The Assistant Director works closely with all members of the Law School’s ACDC team and the University’s development department, building strategic relationships with cross-functional teams and promoting collaboration across departments.

Occasional night and weekend work for Law School and University alumni events is required.

Essential Functions         

  • Secures employment details for participating firms and ensures records are updated in CRM Advance.
  • Liaises with firm captains and members of the Dean’s Office and the Career Planning team, helping in person events run smoothly.
  • Leads the collection and maintenance of Law School parent data, working with IT, Financial Aid, and Advancement Services team to secure incoming 1L parent information and have constituent records created.
  • Responsible for parent data reporting, working with the Advancement Systems and Analytics team on the creation of Law School-specific reports. Ensures incoming parents are screened by Prospect Research team.
  • Provides administrative support to facilitate coordination of Parent and Family Council/Circle fundraising efforts. Assists with email campaigns and parent/family events as needed.
  • Works closely with the Director of Development Operations and Stewardship on mass outreach communications, assisting with appeal creation, segmentation of data, mail house management, and processing in-house mailings.
  • Provides accurate reporting to Law School gift officers on their prospects, especially around calendar year and fiscal year end, in order to increase donor retention and reactivation metrics.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams (Communications, Alumni Relations, Fordham Fund, etc.) on segmentation and outreach strategy for Fordham Law Giving Day.
  • Serves as a key team member in the creation and management of special one-off fundraising campaigns (give to get, etc.).
  • Maintains the Law School fundraising web pages (GiveCampus and iMods). Creates appeal codes and friendly URLs to track giving and special fundraising initiatives.

Additional Functions       

  • Designs and maintains comprehensive calendars to track activity around specialized fundraising initiatives (firm challenge, parent and family council, etc.)
  • Works with DAUR Advancement Services on Law School-specific data hygiene projects.
  • Provides updates on Law School fundraising initiative progress and results, as well as one-off fundraising report requests for senior leadership.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience         

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of four years of progressively successful experience in fundraising and development.

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills      

  • Demonstrated understanding of annual giving strategies, constituencies, methods, metrics, and best practices preferably in a higher education setting; knowledge and experience with direct mail, telemarketing, e-campaign solicitation strategies.
  • Comfort with using personal computers, tablets, and software programs for retrieving, organizing, researching, and presenting appropriate donor/prospect information; proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally with the intended audience.
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to solve complex problems; organize, prioritize, and complete multiple projects simultaneously with close attention to detail; meet deadlines; and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to foster strong collaborative relationships at all levels of a complex organization and professionally interact with all levels of students, staff, faculty, and outside groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team environment; an ability and willingness to quickly learn both the Law School’s and University’s history, mission, demographics, faculty, current programs, and departments, as well as University culture.

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills; comfort with large data sets.
  • Experience with Ellucian CRM Advance.

Minimum Starting Salary: $65,000

Maximum Starting Salary: $70,000
