Assistant Director of Prospect Development
Working as part of Advancement Services and Prospect Development team the Assistant Director of Prospect Development gathers and presents data from internal and external sources to help inform the fundraising efforts of Development and support colleagues to ensure research needs are effectively addressed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive due diligence research utilizing multiple sources to vet nominees for Foundation, Alumni, and college-based awards. Create reports containing findings. (Due Diligence and Award Vetting)
- Develop research profiles by compiling data from a variety of resources including the database and other sources including, but not limited to, Lexis-Nexis, Live Alumni, Blackbaud Fundraiser Performance Management, social media, alert services, and print publications to fulfill timely research requests. - Support proactive prospect qualification processes by pulling lists and preparing data. (Proactive Prospect Development)
- Support the implementation of electronic wealth screenings, which includes review and evaluation of screening results and identification of prospects for further research. (Prospect Research)
- Monitor the event module in the database to identify proactive research needs and perform proactive research accordingly. (Proactive Research)
- Assist with the development and review of research spreadsheets for events and football suites. (Prospect Research)
- Support the maintenance and data integrity of the prospect fields within the database. (Relationship Management)
- Perform global updates, imports, and exports to assist with prospect assignment changes and portfolio integrity. (Relationship Management)
- Manage multiple projects at one time and meet deadlines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. An associate’s degree and two years of related experience will be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Minimum Experience
At least one year of related experience.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills needed.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, organize work, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills to work on simultaneous projects independently or in a team, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products with a focus on Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive.
- Must exercise discretion in working with confidential information.
- Ability to communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diversity.
- Authorization to work in the US
- Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Preferred Experience
- A working knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge/NXT preferred.
- Knowledge of higher education and university advancement operations.
- Ability to read and understand basic financial statements and data.
- Project management experience a plus.
The minimum salary for this position is $46,000.
