Assistant/Associate Director, Annual Giving
The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant or Associate Director of Annual Giving to join our Advancement team. This position is ideal for a professional with expertise in annual giving, fundraising, donor engagement, gift solicitation, recognition and stewardship, gift acknowledgment, advancement services, marketing, or related areas.
The Assistant or Associate Director will build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including alumni, volunteers, faculty, administrators, students, parents, vendors, and community groups. This role involves soliciting donations, addressing inquiries and challenges, providing guidance, mentoring, and engaging in public relations efforts to support the University’s fundraising initiatives. The Assistant or Associate Director will report directly to the Director of Annual Giving and play a key role in driving philanthropic support for the University.
The Assistant Director, Annual Giving will manage and implement digital fundraising initiatives including crowdfunding projects and Giving Day, utilizing email, texting, social media, and other emerging technologies. Also, under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving, will coordinate a multi-channel philanthropy program that supports the fundraising efforts of the University of Nevada, Reno. The Assistant will coordinate and implement digital campaigns for fundraising, donor engagement, new donor acquisition and donor retention in order to expand and diversify support and increase the level of giving. In collaboration with Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant will partner campus-wide to build a culture of philanthropy on campus through digital fundraising efforts that would include faculty and staff giving and will produce and execute strategic messaging that aligns with digital philanthropy efforts.
The Associate Director, Annual Giving will maintain an understanding of current industry standards and best practices related to Annual Giving and develop the strategy informing the segmentation of solicitations, ensuring they are targeted, maintain key performance metrics and delivered within a strategic timeline/calendar. The ideal candidate will partner with Donor Relations to execute a stewardship program for targeted constituencies, including first-year donors, young alumni and consecutive donors. In partnership with the Director, analyze audience, create appropriate messaging and manage production for segmented solicitations. This role will lead college or school based campaigns (print or email) and work closely with college and school giving teams and other campus partners to maximize fundraising efforts around crowdfunding and Giving Day. In addition, the Associate will perform bi-weekly, monthly and annual reports on annual giving fundraising channels and projects.
Evaluation of an Assistant or Associate Director of Annual Giving is based on reaching or exceeding measurable goals, or metrics, as outlined in their Performance Goals as well as performing consistently within the timelines set by Advancement.
Required Qualifications

Assistant Director
Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience OR
Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience
Related Experience: Development, non-profit management, fund raising, alumni relations, public relations or marketing or related experience.
Associate Director
Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related professional work experience OR
Master’s Degree and two (2) years of related professional work experience
Related Experience: Development, non-profit management, fund raising, alumni relations, public relations or marketing or related experience.
