Senior Director of Development, Leadership and Annual Giving

Denton, TXThe Senior Director is responsible for the development, execution and management of a comprehensive, multi-channel giving program as well as leading the fundraising team of annual and leadership annual giving officers. This leader will develop, launch, and manage a high-level strategy to create and execute engagement touchpoints and fundraising solicitations to drive revenue through the Annual Giving and Leadership Annual Giving team.
Job Duties:
- Develop, execute, and manage a comprehensive annual giving multi-channel fundraising program to acquire, re-activate, retain, and enhance annual donor commitments with a focus of growing the pipeline, moving entry-level annual giving donors from the first gift to leadership and then to next level, driving annual revenue and boosting retention rates. This multifaceted approach includes mail, email, student engagement, texting, crowdfunding, social media, videos, events, visits, giving days, volunteer coordination, alumni outreach, student and family philanthropy and leadership annual giving program. Build strategic plan for year-round “family” giving campaign from faculty and staff leaders. Create plan for specialized programs including Diamond Eagles, working in partnership with community, volunteer leaders. Create and execute donor-centered stewardship and recognition efforts for annual giving donors to show the impact of their giving.
- Lead and coach team charged by executing a bold strategy that utilizes innovative approaches to solicit, upgrade and close annual and leadership gifts. Serve as the lead, creator, and executor with departmental support teams to write and design solicitations for all communications channels, also lead and keep updated a calendar of solicitations and engagement touchpoints. Assign and distribute responsibilities; support team professional development and growth plans; and provide guidance, inspiration, and support as they execute their goals. Lead hiring, performance appraisals, and promotions for the team and manage and oversee budget to accomplish program goals.
- Collaborate effectively with partners in Advancement and across the University to identify and support annual giving opportunities and priorities for specialized campaigns like “UNT Day of Giving.” Approve, coordinate, and collaborate on all annual gift fundraising campaigns on campus. Partner with other frontline teams, including Major Giving, Planned Giving, Corporate and Foundation Relations, to create comprehensive solicitation strategies that support mutually shared goals.
- Launch innovative approaches, leverage industry trends, integrate best practices, review data analysis, and technology to drive year over year increases in annual gift volume with number of donors and revenue.
- Develop and closely monitor a comprehensive set of goals and metrics to achieve annual giving and leadership annual giving fundraising goals that include total giving, donor acquisition and retention, as well as fundraising performance by appeal, segment, and channel.
- Coordinate with Advancement Services to maximize data integration. Create a suite of reports to track and analyze donor activity year over year and over time, specialized dashboards for current year and future planning. Analyze results of data trends to drive strategic planning of annual giving fundraising efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and seven years’ of professional experience in fundraising, donor relations, public relations, or sales; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

- Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to the area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degrees and/or fundraising certification are highly desired.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant fundraising experience. Experience in higher education, healthcare institution or non-profit setting preferred; direct experience with annual giving and volunteer management required.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute high-level and multi-channel annual giving efforts.
- Proven history of working in a dynamic, evolving, and highly energetic fundraising environment.
- Ability to function at an elevated level within a complex organization.
Work Schedule:
8:00am to 5:00pm with some nights/weekends; hybrid available.
