Virginia Tech is seeking applications for organized, collaborative, and impact-driven candidates to serve as Assistant Director for Leadership Gifts. The Assistant Director for Leadership Gifts will serve as prospect manager, developing and implementing annual leadership gift solicitation strategies. This includes building, managing and soliciting a portfolio of leadership gift prospects, giving primary focus to matching prospect households’ interests in Virginia Tech with current use funding priorities within colleges, departments, and university programs. The Assistant Director of Leadership Gifts will establish strong working relationships with central advancement, collegiate and constituent development officers and the college and program staff to foster a productive work environment. Travel regionally and also nationally to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors on behalf of the Virginia Tech’s advancement program. A majority of time is devoted to building relationships with prospects and donors with the goal of qualifying, soliciting, and stewarding leadership annual gifts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with their supervisor, to develop and cultivate relationships within their portfolio while soliciting current use gifts in the range of $5K-$100K
  • Provide assistance to ensure timely donor stewardship of annual gifts
  • S/he will be a highly motivated professional who will be deeply involved in the fundraising efforts in support of current operations and endowment from all private sources, with emphasis on new donor acquisition
  • Includes frequent travel of 5-10 days per month.
