Assistant Director, Annual Giving

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving is responsible for developing content and executing solicitation and donor outreach campaigns in support of WSU Advancement fundraising goals at the Annual Giving level in collaboration with and under guidance from the Director of Annual Giving. This position supports the Director of Annual Giving in pursuing Annual Giving Office fundraising strategies and outreach campaigns through writing, content development, design/strategy conceptualization, and project execution for print and digital campaigns. The incumbent works with WSU Advancement partners to execute fundraising campaigns, performs analysis of campaign results, and provides feedback/guidance to inform Annual Giving Office strategy. The incumbent has knowledge of best practices in print and digital outreach. Provide guidance and support to campus, college, and unit fundraising partners in the execution of donor outreach campaigns. The Assistant Director may manage small-scale Annual Giving programs or micro-campaigns, including guiding and assigning the work of student employees.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience, which includes six (6) months of full-time experience in marketing, gift solicitation or public contact work with evidence of ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively orally and in writing and organize and execute assignments. A Master’s degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing/copy editing.

  • Working knowledge of digital/print project development and execution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in persuasive writing and campaign design.

  • Experience in non-profit or fundraising work.

  • Experience working with digital fundraising or email platforms.

  • Experience/knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or related programs.

  • Experience in marketing/business analysis.

  • Experience working within a CRM database.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
