Reporting to the Director of Chapter and Regional Engagement, this position develops and supports initiatives to promote and foster high quality, life-long relationships between Virginia Tech and its alumni with a primary focus on the Greater D.C. Metro – Baltimore region. In the aggregate and individually, the events, activities, and programming support key goals of the university and advancement

Duties and Responsibilities:

Core responsibilities include:

  • Building relationships that focus on engagement, volunteerism, and donors at the annual-giving level
  • Advising and providing administrative support to approximately 20 alumni chapters in areas across the Greater D.C. – Baltimore region and additional key markets
  • Working with teams and consultants to define, mobilize, and build an alumni engagement and volunteer strategy, and ensuring successful execution
  • Broadening reach to alumni around key topics including community service, professional networking, fundraising, and brand awareness
  • Leads regional development and execution of The Big Event, Student Send-Offs, game-watching parties, professional networking, etc. as part of larger program strategy in collaboration with Young Alumni, Cornerstone, Inclusive Alumni Society, and LINK programs as well as other regional college and unit programs
  • Develops program relationships and collaborations within the division, Virginia Tech colleges and units, and other campus offices, divisions, etc. to foster broader connections with the regional community and Innovation Campus
  • Developing and successfully executing the Tech on Tap speaker series
  • Strategically managing and evolving the cross-collaborative D.C. Regional Working Group and stewarding its stakeholders
  • Advancing and implementing a graduate and multi-degree alumni strategy for the chapter and regional engagement team
  • Oversees the coordination and execution of tasks related to individual and regional work plan as appropriate
  • Providing support for individual alumni events as needed
  • Cultivates and assists with student scholarship fundraising
  • Manages and assists with alumni chapter scholarship processes, promotion, and awarding; promotes annual giving initiatives
  • Advises alumni volunteers and staff on Virginia Tech inclusion and diversity initiatives; Plans and assists with volunteer training and management, including hosting monthly live webinars and yearly conferences
  • Cultivates and manages relationships with volunteers, board, chapter, and affinity alumni organizations; may represent the program off campus and manage the integration of activities with other initiatives
