The College of Wooster is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Alumni & Family Engagement.  This position provides strategic leadership for the implementation and enhancement of a comprehensive and high-quality alumni and family engagement program which aims to broadly engage more than 25,000 Wooster alumni, parents and friends living throughout the United States and abroad in the life of the College.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee and manage alumni and family engagement programs.  Including planning and execution of all on-campus alumni and family programs (Alumni Weekend and Homecoming).
  • Lead Strategy to engage Wooster affinity and special interest groups, including class officers, the W Association, Wooster LGBTQ+ Alumni Group, Black Alumni Council, Legal Alumni of Wooster, as well as others.
  • Work with APEX and Career Planning to enhance internship, mentoring, networking, and job placement opportunities for students, alumni, families, and friends of the college.
  • Liaison to and principal staff support for the Alumni Board; including partnering with Alumni Board President to drive strategy, direction, recruitment and engagement of the board to further the mission of the College.
  • Supervise and support staffing for regional programs for alumni, parents, and friends in all Tier 1, 2 and 3 regions, including regular travel to each region for programming, and relationship building with volunteers, donors and for stewardship.
  • Lead and direct special projects and serve on various divisional committees related to Advancement priorities (campaign, celebrations, anniversary).
  • Design high quality regional alumni activities around the country each year, including appearances by faculty and administrators and planning events that coincide with athletic contests, choir and band tours and other special activities.
  • Attendance at Board of Trustee meetings to report on Alumni and Family Engagement, communications, and Alumni Association activities.
  • Oversee Director of Advancement Services and the Advancement Services team keeping a focus on ensuring the keepers of the database and the users of that information actively coordinate.
  • Partner with Director of Advancement Services to ensure data-driven decision making processes for all engagement related activities, with a special emphasis on maintaining CASE data standards.
  • Work with VP and development colleagues to ensure we are applying communications preferences at constituents’ requests in the least restrictive way.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree.
  • 5-7 years related work experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
