Associate Vice President for Advancement Services
Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement, the Associate Vice President for Advancement Services (AVP) provides strategic leadership for the University’s development and alumni relations infrastructure and serves as a key partner to colleagues to utilize data and analytics to drive fundraising success. In addition to providing oversight for the University’s central fundraising services, the AVP leads four essential teams – Information and Technology Systems; Records and Gifts Management; Prospect Development; and Donor Relations – to create and sustain a customer-service oriented and donor-centric Advancement operation.
Essential Functions
- Serve as a member of the Advancement senior leadership team to recommend appropriate courses of action to demonstrate and sustain a culture of service and business support to enhance philanthropic giving to the University.
- Institutionalize a data driven decision culture to utilize data and analytics to drive fundraising success, especially in the context of Boise State’s next comprehensive campaign.
- Lead, motivate, and direct four essential teams – Information Technology Systems, Records and Gifts, Prospect Development, and Donor Relations – to create and sustain a high performing, customer-service oriented and donor-centric Advancement operation.
- Responsible for the strategic design, development and implementation of operational functions that provide a foundation for Advancement to achieve its goals in fundraising and constituent engagement.
- Align business support functions, policies and procedures, and technology infrastructure with the strategies, resources, and priorities of the University.
- Responsible for management of Boise State’s Advancement’s database (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT) and, in partnership with Foundation leadership, selection and management of a variety of additional software tools; gift acceptance and processing and fund compliance; as well as prospect research, prospect management and data analysis.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervision: This position will supervise or manage the work of up to 15 full-time employees

- Input: Programmatic objectives and key results

- Efficiency: Net fundraising production (total revenue minus cost)
- Outcomes: Improved donor experience and successfully funding university priorities
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a discipline related to position responsibilities, plus 10 years experience including 6 years managerial experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a discipline related to position responsibilities
- 5 years leadership experience
- Experience with using Raiser’s Edge software
- Experience or involvement with software implementation

Travel Requirements
Travel may be required to meet with donors outside the local area, attend conferences/training, and donor-centered events and activities.
