Executive Vice President for Advancement
Job Summary
The Executive Vice President (EVP) for Advancement is the senior executive responsible for designing and implementing an institutional advancement program at Tarrant County College. The advancement function includes responsibility for the oversight of the Tarrant County College District staff who work in the TCCD Foundation office in their function to implement the college’s scholarship program, annual fund, corporate and / foundation relations, major gifts and gift planning, endowment, capital campaigns, and alumni and constituent relation efforts, and other philanthropic programs and activities. The EVP ensures that the advancement program effectively provides support that matches philanthropic opportunities with the college’s funding, equipment, supply, personnel (faculty/staff) and facility needs. The Executive Vice President also provides the leadership and management for working with and through the TCCD Foundation Board of Directors. This position is the chief executive responsible for the strategic leadership of these areas to ensure that adequate public and private support is secured to fulfill its mission. The position works closely with and reports directly to the Chancellor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as a member of the college’s leadership team and advances the mission, vision, and goals of the college in concert with other college leadership.
- Collaborate with the Chancellor, College Cabinet, and TCCD Foundation Board Leadership to establish appropriate fundraising goals, priorities, and policies and implement strategic initiatives to support the advancement of those goals.
- Responsible for the effective oversight and implementation of the college’s scholarship program, annual fund, corporate and / foundation relations, major gifts and gift planning, endowment, capital campaigns, and alumni and constitutent relation efforts, and other philanthropic programs and activities.
- Engage partnerships in the college to enhance a culture of philanthropy. Maintain a cooperative working relationship with those within the college how will be essential to effective outreach and fundraising.
- Explore public-private-partnerships, crowdfunding, naming rights, alternative revenue sources, monetizing stakeholders, leveraging campus assets, commercializing academic programs, and entrepreneurial activities, and pursuing new markets in training/education as advancement tools and strategies.
- Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all major gift prospects through corporate solicitations, foundation grants, fundraising, annual and special projects.
- Provide development strategies with special campaigns that fall under the umbrella of a college capital campaign.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospect, engaging the Chancellor and members of the Foundation Board as well as members of the college Board of Trustees to cultivate and close gifts as appropriate.
- Gather fundraising data on performance metrics and other measures of success; prepare statistical analyses and reports related to fundraising efforts and donor engagement.
- Reports regularly to the Chancellor on all aspects of the Foundation activities
- Maintain a dynamic portfolio of high net worth individuals and secure major, capital, and planned gifts, as well as advanced annual gifts and endowment support.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with the private and corporate business community.
- Hire, train, and guide direct reports towards accountable, goal-oriented outcomes.
- Develops policies and procedures for operation of Foundation and reviews these annually.
- Provide strategic partnership advice on public private partnerships at the request and direction of the Chancellor.
Required Education and Experience
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Business, Education, Management, or a related field
- Five (5) years of experience in fundraising with progressive management responsibility, including senior level management, with a complex nonprofit organization/system
- Significant experience and proven track record of achievement of goal driven results in the field
Desired Education and Experience
- Ten (10) years of experience in fundraising with progressive management responsibility, including senior level management, with a complex nonprofit organization/system, preferably with institutions of higher education
- Prior executive-level leadership experience at a community college or a non-profit associated with a community college
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to entrepreneurial and innovative practices and methods
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in of best practices in stewardship and relationship building
- Direct experience or an acumen to suggest the ability to work effectively with boards, senior management teams, community leaders and community constituents to achieve results
- Ability to work harmoniously with a wide range of constituencies within the college environment and the community it serves
