La Roche University is accepting applications for the position of Vice President for University Advancement. Reporting to the President of the University, this position is responsible for the annual fund, corporate and foundation relations, government relations, major gifts and gift planning, capital campaigns, and alumni/constituent relations.

The Vice President must be an experienced and innovative leader who will aggressively design and implement a comprehensive advancement program focused on increasing corporate, foundation, and alumni involvement in fundraising and outcomes, and increasing the University’s standing with state and local government representatives. In collaboration with the President’s Executive Council, this individual must participate in the development of a robust and forward-thinking strategic vision, and subsequently design and implement tactical plans to meet the challenges of a small, Catholic, liberal arts University. The ability to understand, support and communicate the spiritual, academic, multicultural, and community service aspects of the University is critical.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Thorough understanding of and appreciation for La Roche University’s mission and educational model, and the ability to effectively communicate them to potential donors.
  • Advance the mission, vision, short and long-term goals of La Roche University in concert with the President and senior administrative colleagues on the Executive Council.
  • Participate in strategic discussions and develop programs to strengthen the financial resources of the University.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with the Executive Council, Board of Trustees and key alumni.
  • Maintain a dynamic portfolio of high net worth individuals to secure major, capital, and planned gifts, as well as annual gifts and endowment support.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of fundraising plans that utilize best practices to meet annual goals; develop plans and budgets for Alumni/Parent Engagement, Annual Fund, Gift/Planning Campaigns, Grant Development, Stewardship and Advancement Services.
  • Serve on a variety of campus committees and task forces. Maintain excellent relationships with campus departments whose cooperation is essential to effective outreach and fundraising.
  • Devise and implement effective internal and external advancement communications.
  • Champion the University’s government relations activities by collaborating with key individuals on the Executive Council, Board of Trustees, and alumni to increase standing, reputation and credibility among influential government representatives.
  • Hire, train, inspire and guide direct reports and the entire advancement team toward accountable, goal-oriented outcomes.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree, preference for a graduate degree in a related field
  • Progressive leadership experience inclusive of ten years of increasing responsibilities in Advancement; minimum of 5 years must be with an institution of higher education
  • Experience as a senior-level advancement professional with a proven record of fundraising success in major/planned gifts, corporate gifts, personal solicitations, grant writing and alumni relations
  • Experience developing and maintaining productive working relationships with all constituents
  • Demonstrated success in building teams and inspiring excellence
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and evenings; overnight travel is expected
