Role of the Position 

The Senior Director of Annual Giving, a leader in UNLV’s engagement and fundraising team, will play a critical role in leading a team of 4 staff members across an integrated program that includes leadership giving, volunteer giving initiatives and marketing and participation – responsible for the multi-channel solicitations of a global constituency of 120,000+ alumni, parents and friends with a focus on raising money for the hundreds of university designations.

The Senior Director reports to the Senior Associate Vice President of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving and is considered an important partner across a multi-faceted program delivering more than $13M per year of restricted and unrestricted support to UNLV that equate to over 12,000 unique donors. The position is charged with developing and executing a program that delivers approximately 18 percent of the total money raised and 98% of the donors for UNLV each year.

The Senior Director of Annual Giving is responsible for the development and management of strategic program plans and budgets for the unrestricted and restricted Annual Giving program, which includes: 1957 Society (leadership annual giving), Scarlet Streak (consecutive giving), Scarlet Loyal (alumni association membership recognition) and faculty/staff campaigns.  Primary responsibilities include the hiring and supervision of professional and support staff, managing the gift renewal process, expanding annual giving participation and increasing unrestricted giving through the identification and cultivation and stewardship of annual donors. The Senior Director recruits, stewards and motivates volunteer leadership, develops fundraising communications, and coordinates college and unit based giving programs.  S/he serves as direct liaison with the vendor of the Division’s phone-a-thon program and is the staff liaison to the Philanthropy committee of the UNLV Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Required Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.  Candidate should possess superlative interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Must have excellent attention to detail, and professionalism in all interactions. Skills to work independently while, at the same time, working well collectively and collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals. This position may require working outside of the 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. work day and on weekends. This position may require a background check.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience with the creation of strategic and solicitation program plans, departmental budgets, project and analyze revenue streams.  Ability to manage, motivate, and evaluate employees.  Highly developed interpersonal networking skills.  Confidence with public speaking and representing the University at community and business functions.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Knowledge of standard personal computer equipment and related software programs.  Ability to use fundraising database and spreadsheet software programs such as Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge and Excel.

Salary Range:

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
